The post-jam update (v1.1.0) has been released! I don't think it's super polished, but all the new mechanics are completely functional (I hope). Here are the additions/changes:

  • Fixed the jump animation, so now the poor guy doesn't break his knees whenever he jumps
  • Slightly buffed levels 4 and 5
  • Improved the transition between levels
  • Added post-processing effects and made the graphics pixel perfect
  • Made the tutorial completely nonverbal. There wasn't too much of a reason to do this, but I felt it would improve the game design.
  • Added a level select menu that is accessed after beating all the levels
  • Added stars to each level. I added a "disabling" functionality that disables blocks in playing mode when they are right clicked in editing mode. To earn a star for a level, you must beat it with the minimum number of blocks active. I hope this adds some replay value to the game!
  • Added a saving and loading system
  • Fixed a few bugs

I made this game in under 48 hours for the GMTK Game Jam 2021.  I've never done a game jam in so little time, but I'm proud of the result. The theme for it was "Joined Together," and my interpretation was to put (join) a structure together out of smaller pieces, and it later grew into this idea.

You work at a warehouse owned by Level Assembly Co., and your boss instructed you to gather materials for their current project. Unfortunately, they are strewn all over the warehouse, some of them out of reach. But you have the ability to move the crates that are lying around on their own, and if you place them properly, you may be able to use them as platforms to reach the materials.

All assets (music, art, code) were made by me within the time frame of 48 hours (aside from one sound effect, from freesound.org).

Have fun!

Not a bad little game, I enjoyed the build-your-own level aspect, but actually found myself be stuck in places. The soundtrack could do with a little mixing and to be a tad lower in the mix, but for a solo project, excellent work. (also I find it hilarious the characters legs go back when they jump like they are jumping for joy)

Thank you for the feedback! For the song, I tried to incorporate an industrial feel, and I think I mostly succeeded, though I do agree it's a little cluttered.
